With SQL 2008 life has been made very easy. With a few steps one can not only see the version of SQL 2008 but also the instances, features, language, editions and whether or not it is clustered!
- Go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Installation Center (64-bit)
- Go to Tools > Installed SQL Server features discovery report
- A report in html-format is generated and automatically opened in IE:
