So Microsoft is not only upgrading the infrastructure of SCOM (OpsMgr vNext) but is also working on the MPs themselves. In order to do that, input from YOU is needed. So let’s help making the ‘blood’ of SCOM better!
Go here, log on and let them know what you think about the MPs.
I can tell you that Microsoft listens and cares.

I feel that MS does NOT listen and only casually cares about SCOM MPs. Native MPs for server 2008/R2 lagged months to over a year behind the RTM release of the OS. MPs routinely have bugs that go unfixed for months. Or third parties have to develop MPs for basic functions like printers because the MS printer MP is nearly useless. Unless MS gets its act together and produces HIGH QUALITY and TIMELY MPs, then I'll be shifting my purchase to other monitoring solutions.
Hi Derek.
I understand your feelings. Looking at some MPs, its indeed an acknowledgement. On the other hand however, other MPs are a shiney example of what MPs should be about and look like.
Also know that from the MVP community AND many people within Microsoft MPs are recognized as a very important part of the total SCOM infrastructure, thus requiring a high set of standards. Much effort is put into them to get them right.
Looking at where we came from and where we are heading to, there have been many improvements. Still a lot of work needs to be done.
So please, LET Microsoft know what you think about the MPs. Only then they have enough weight in order to get their message across.
Like many other things in life, there is room for improvement. When only saying that without acting, nothing will change. But by acting, even how small it might seem, it will aid to the improvements to take shape and make them happen as well.
So to make a long story short, I understand your emotions, but share them on the Connect site. It will really make a difference.
Cheers,
Marnix
Dan Rogers basically confirmed MS ignores the bugs on connect and according to him you have to open a support call. Stupid decision if you'd ask me, because they'll lose info about what are the major annoyances from the community.

Hi Rob.
I am afraid you are correct here and I share your opinion as well. Some people who are using SCOM are good MP authors as well, thus being able to tell Microsoft exactly what needs more or better attention. Being able to do such just by opening a support call is not smart at all and creates additional boundaries for many people. After all, it is a Microsoft product they want to talk about and now those people have to make it their problem? Sometimes the reasoning behind it all eludes me totally.
Cheers,
Marnix
