A customer had imported the Lync Server 2010 MP. The Lync topology was neatly discovered, except for the edge servers. Those servers had their OM12 Agent neatly in place and were functioning properly. Everything else present on those servers was neatly discovered and monitored, except for the Lync Edge services…
When I was there I ran through it all and indeed, on the SCOM side of things everything was just fine. And yes, the related guide was properly read. But as it turned out, page 13 was overlooked:
Soon after this was fixed and the Agent on the Lync Edge servers restarted, the Lync Edge servers were neatly discovered and monitored.
So whenever you bump into a similar situation make sure the proper override is in place:
It’s good every MP has a guide. But sometimes crucial information is easily (and unintended) overlooked
