Free e-book: Introducing Windows Server 2012

Even though this blog is all about System Center in general and SCOM/OM12 in particular, I still want to share this topic with you all. 2012 is an important year for Microsoft since many products will be updated, like Windows Server 2012 for instance.

IMO, it’s important to any one working with Microsoft technology to get up to steam with this new OS as well since it will serve as the layer for the Private Cloud and all SC 2012 products as well. Therefore it’s good to know that Microsoft Press has released a new e-book all about this new Server OS: Introducing Windows Server 2012. Even better news, this book is available for FREE!

Yes, this book does contain some marketing mumbo jumbo. An yet it’s still an awesome source of solid information about this new Server OS. I have installed it already in a couple of my labs (@home and @work) and run the client version on my production notebook. Before that I run the Consumer Preview edition of Windows 2012 client which I came to like very much and prefer above Windows 7.

Directly taken from the Foreword of this book:
’…Windows Server 2012 introduces a plethora of new features to address the evolved needs of a modern IT infrastructure and workforce. The core of this  experience is the need to scale out, virtualize, and move workloads, applications, and   services to the cloud. Windows Server 2012 incorporates our experience of building,  managing, and operating both private and public clouds, all based on Windows Server...’

And:
’…This book is compiled from the expertise we have gained from the public clouds that we have run for years, as well as the experience from many experts on how to use the Hyper-V and Windows Server technologies optimally. We wanted to provide this book as a preview of the engineering team’s inside knowledge and the best practices from the early adopter deployments of Windows Server during the beta. It provides a unique introduction and preview on how to cloud-optimize your environment with Windows Server 2012!…

This FREE e-book can be downloaded from here.

All credits go to my much respected colleague Marcel van den Berg who told me about this great e-book. Thank YOU Marcel!
