Some days ago the System Center 2012 – Operations Manager Product Team posted an excellent blog article all about using the Web Application Availability Monitoring wizard in order to configure rich monitoring of your Web Applications:

This is a new template in OM12 and introduces some very nice and awesome features as well, like:

  • Two visualization experiences directly related to the Web Application Availability: Summary (Map) dashboard and Detailed dashboard;
  • Creating easy to build SLOs (Service Level Objects) for SLA dashboards.

The posting is really detailed and tells it all. Also some nice new PowerShell cmdlets based on the extensions for OM12 are explained and shown:

  • New-SCOMLocation;
  • Set-SCOMLocation.

These powerful cmdlets makes your watcher node appear on a MAP! Based on the coordinates you enter using the earlier mentions PowerShell cmdlets! Awesome!
